Born in Truckee, California and raised in Squaw Valley, skiing, running, mountaineering and backcountry adventure is ingrained in his DNA. Dan went to The University of Nevada, Reno where he was a member of the ski team while earning a degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences, and minor in English Literature. Dan spent one year skiing in Japan where he happily absorbed and embraced their mountain culture, but ultimately returned home as he is a Sierra man through and through.

As the driving force of Level 8 Outdoor, Dan Dixson inspires his team with a smile, and lets his progressive actions and deep friendships throughout the outdoor industry speak for him. With over 21 years experience as a rep and with multiple sales awards accredited to Level 8, Dan hasn't let off at all, he continually pushes his genuine sales approach to the next level.

Today, fatherhood is Dan's dedicated adventure. Nothing motivates Dan to succeed more than seeing the smile of his son, at the end of a big day in the mountains. Dan's success means more days in the mountains and more smiles.

Dan has more than 40 years of experience in the outdoor industry. He first kicked off his career back in 1980 when he co-founded Hilltop Sportswear, producing clothing for cross country skiing and cycling, all made in the USA.

In 1985, Dan began repping his first brand: Nike Agua gear. By 1990, he added Swix and Fischer to his portfolio. Lowa Boots came on board around 1996, and Dan Dixson (now of Level 8 Outdoor) also joined the agency at that time.

Sherpa Adventure Gear became an Endless Adventure offering in 2019, followed shortly by Hillsound in 2020.

Dan spends most of his free time outside hiking, skiing and biking with his wife Margie and their two dogs, Ryder and Boone, enjoying nature and finding new places to explore.

When he was 12 years old, Dan signed up for a backpacking trip from Mammoth Lakes to Yosemite Valley through Poway Backpackers. A program started by Eddie Lindros, Dan’s 6th grade math teacher. This trip not only introduced Dan to a world outside of San Diego, it is the reason he has spent his entire career working in the outdoor industry.

After many more trips in the Eastern Sierra and finishing college, Dan went to work for Gregory Mountain Products in the dealer and customer service department. In 1996, Dan had the opportunity to move to Big Bear Lake, CA to live and work in the mountains with Mark Fulton’s sales agency that represented Gregory, Ex Officio, Lowa, Moonstone and Smartwool. This is where Dan met his wife Janie and spent over a decade working, raising their family and enjoying the mountains. In 1998, Dan had the opportunity to start his own sales agency, Pacific Crest Trading, and partnered with Gregory, Moonstone and Montrail.

In 2009, Dan and Janie moved to Truckee, CA where they currently live and enjoy everything the Sierra has to offer. Throughout his career, Dan has had the opportunity to work with some amazing people and incredible brands.
